Union Institute & University Scholarships for Veterans and Active Duty Military, National Guard/Reserves
Union Institute & University is proud to offer the following scholarships to our veterans and active duty military members including National Guard/Reservists. Scholarships are also available to spouses and dependents.
Union Institute & University’s brief residency and online programs make us the ideal university for active duty service members, reservists, National Guard, and working veterans. Recognized by the DOD as a Serviceman’s Opportunity College and by G.I. Jobs as a Military Friendly School, Union Institute & University is honored to assist military members and veterans in accomplishing their educational goals. With recent changes in the Post 9-11 GI Bill, military and veterans in many cases can attend Union Institute & University and not incur financial obligations for their tuition, books, and fees.
While you may use any VA educational benefits for which you are eligible, we are particularly pleased to announce our participation in the Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) and the Yellow Ribbon Program. Beginning July 1, 2011, we will provide generous tuition assistance for any Union Institute & University program with tuition costs that exceed the $18,077.50 cap established for private, not-for-profit schools like Union Institute & University. This includes our bachelor of science, bachelor of arts, master's and doctoral programs university-wide.
Yellow Ribbon Program
As a participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program, Union Institute & University will work with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to fund tuition costs above the $18,077.50 cap mandated by Congress. The partnership will allow Union Institute & University’s programs’ tuition and fees to be matched by the VA and will result in no financial obligation for tuition and fees for eligible military and veterans. It also allows in many cases for the benefit to be transferable to a spouse or dependent.
Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH)
Veterans may also be eligible for 1/2 the national rate of BAH when they take online or brief residency courses at Union Institute & University.
