When your reader says something like: In some places it seems like you just went on and on or were padding.

A reader might say something like this if:

  1. You’ve repeated yourself in your paper. You might do this because you are trying hard to make sure that your ideas are clear. If this is the case, read more about organizing and paragraphing.
  2. You really are just padding in order to get enough pages for the assignment. If you recognize this as the case, take a look at the page on making your paper long enough.
  3. This might be the experience your reader reports if he or she is having trouble figuring out your main idea. Your reader’s brain might be thinking “get to the point.” If you think this might be the case, look at what to do when your readers say they don’t understand your main point.
