Union Institute & University is proud to offer a generous transfer credit policy to save you time and money as you work toward your degree. We accept credits from almost any school without age restrictions or program specifications.

Cincinnati Police Department

Benefits:

  • Waived application fee
  • 100% scholarship to offset the tuition for the final four credit hours (provided the student maintains continuous enrollment with Union
  • Institute & University and a ‘C’ or better in the courses taken in the final semester term of enrollment)
  • This agreement applies to current spouses of Cincinnati police officers

Requirements:

  • Successful completion/graduation from the Cincinnati Police Academy Officer Basic Training Program (including dates of attendance/completion) including successful completion of at least one year’s probationary experience
  • 100% scholarship to offset the tuition for the final four credit hours (provided the student maintains continuous enrollment with Union Institute & University and a ‘C’ or better in the courses taken in the final semester term of enrollment
  • Certification of successful completion of the Basic Training program of the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council

Ft. Lauderdale Police Department (FL)

Benefits:

  • Receive a scholarship of up to $100 off each credit hour (up to 30 credits)
  • Receive up to 34 hours of college credit for FDLE Basic/Recruit Training
  • Transfer up to 90 credits combined from sources such as FDLE/CJSTC courses, prior college, and university credits. Credits are also awarded for prior experimental learning.

Hollywood Police Department (FL)

Benefits:

  • Scholarship of $100 per credit hour for the first 30 hours

Requirements:

  • Acceptance into the Union Institute & University Bachelor of Science Criminal Justice Management program
  • Documentation
  • Proof of current employment with the Hollywood Police Department

Immigration & Custom Enforcement (ICE)

  • Receive a scholarship of $100 off each credit hour (up to 30 credits)
  • Receive up to 30 hours of college credit for FLETC/ICE-D Training

International Union of Police Associations (IUPA)

Benefits:

  • 10% tuition scholarship for IUPA members
  • Last 4 semester credit hours toward the degree are free provided student maintains continuous enrollment with the university and receives a grade of at least ‘C’ in the courses taken in the final semester/term of enrollment
  • These benefits also apply to spouses of IUPA members

Requirements:

  • Successful completion/graduation from a law enforcement basic training program (including dates of attendance/completion) including successful completion of at least one year’s probationary experience
  • Certification of successful completion of the basic training program as required by the member’s state of certification

Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training (KY)

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department

Benefits:

  • Scholarship of $100 per credit hour for the first 30 hours

Requirements:

  • Acceptance into the Bachelor of Science Criminal Justice Management program
  • Only applies to law enforcement personnel and employees having custody, correctional, probation, or parole duties/assignments as determined by Union

Documentation:

  • Proof of current employment with the Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department

Los Angeles Police Department

Benefits:

  • Scholarship of $100 per credit hour for the first 30 hours

Documentation:

  • Official verification of employment status with the LAPD

Miami Police Department (FL)

Benefits:

  • Receive a scholarship of $100 off each credit hour (up to 30 credits)
    Receive up to 34 hours of college credit for FDLE Basic/Recruit Training
  • Transfer up to 90 credits combined from sources such as FDLE/CJSTC courses and prior college and university credits. Credits are also awarded for prior experiential learning.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (FL)

Benefits:

  • Up to 34 semester credit hours will be awarded in transfer credits after submission of the requirements listed below

  • Certification of successful completion/graduation from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Training – Basic Recruit Training Program (including dates of attendance/completion)

Municipal Police Officers’ Education & Training Commission (PA)

National Fraternal Order of Police University

Union is one of the 10 members of the National Fraternal Order of Police University (FOPU) consortium of colleges and universities, which provides members of the National FOP with varied learning programs. The formation of FOPU allows FOP members to take courses to accommodate the unique necessities of a working law enforcement officer’s schedule. Courses can be taken online to make it easier for members to obtain their degrees.

Benefits:

  • 10% tuition scholarship for undergraduate studies (5% for graduate studies) upon enrollment

Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police – Police Executive Leadership College

The Peace Officer Training Academy provides instruction in basic, advanced, and technical subjects for the Ohio law enforcement community using the latest research and recommended professional practices.   • 100% scholarship to offset the tuition for the final four credits as long as continuous enrollment at Union Institute & University is maintained

Requirements:

  • Associate of Arts or Associate of Science from Cincinnati State

Columbus State Community College

Benefits:

  • A scholarship of 10% of the tuition rate
  • Last four credits free (must maintain continuous enrollment from time of enrollment until the term of the final course)

  • An Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Applied Science from Columbus State Community College
  • Enrollment in a Union Institute & University Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science program

Community College System of New Hampshire

Benefits:

  • A scholarship equal to 10% of the tuition rate

Community College of Vermont

Benefits:

  • Scholarship equal to 10% of the tuition rate

Delaware Technical & Community College

Division of Florida Colleges

  • Union Institute & University will accept associates’ degrees from graduates of the Florida College System who seek further educational opportunities via the traditional classroom setting or online instruction.
  • This approach of earning a 4-year degree is commonly referred to as the 2+2 system.
  • The State of Florida has established a statewide articulation agreement and has adopted additional policies to assist students in smoothly transitioning between community colleges and 4-year colleges and universities.

Florida National University

Benefits:

  • Scholarship of 10% of the tuition rate per credit on all credits earned at Union Institute & University upon matriculation
  • All other regular admissions policies shall be waived

Requirements:

  • AA degree in education from FNU with a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Grade of ‘C’ or better (on a 4.0 grade point scale) on coursework
  • A formal interview with a faculty advisor and a review of all program requirements. This will occur with a Union faculty representative the semester prior to the granting of the AA degree from FNU
  • Official transcripts of all college work for evaluation of transfer credit

Southern State Community College

Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training (CA)

Up to 32 semester credit hours will be awarded in transfer credits after submission of the requirements listed below:

  • Current enrollment, past enrollment or graduation from the Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training
  • Acceptance and enrollment into a Bachelor of Arts program at Union Institute & University

Other Organizations

AmeriCorps Alumni

  • Up to $3,000 total scholarship to be awarded at $750 per semester for undergraduate students’ first 4 semesters
  • Up to $2,000 total scholarship to be awarded at $500 per semester for graduate students’ first 4 semesters
  • Application fee waived

Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency (OH)

Benefits:

  • 10% scholarship each term as long as the student maintains satisfactory standing
  • 100% scholarship to offset the tuition for the final four credit course in the Bachelor of Science program

Documentation:

  • Proof of current employment with the CAA

City of Cincinnati Employees

Benefits:

  • Scholarship of 10% of the tuition rate
  • Last 4 credits free (must maintain continuous enrollment from time of enrollment until the term of the final course)

Requirements:

  • Enrollment in a Union Institute & University Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science program
  • Student must maintain satisfactory academic standing and be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours per semester
