Title IX

Title IX is not just about sports; it is a prohibition against sex-based discrimination in education. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal civil rights law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in university programs and activities. Sexual harassment, including sexual violence and retaliation, are forms of discrimination prohibited by Title IX.

Union Institute & University recognizes the human dignity of each individual of the university community and believes that each has a responsibility to promote respect and dignity for others. We are committed to providing a learning and working environment in which students, faculty, and staff can thrive, and a culture that is welcoming, affirming, and free of fear. To this end, Union strives to foster an academic and work environment that is free from sexual discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual violence. This policy outlines a process to stop, remedy and prevent all forms of sexual misconduct including acts of sexual violence, sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and bullying, including cyberstalking and cyberbullying.
