Dr. Lee Binder

Dr. Rosalie G. Binder (Lee) taught at Greenfield Day School in Miami, Florida from 1984 – 2010 and was named Head of School in 2004. During that time, she also served as the Reading Intervention Specialist providing support for those students who scored below the 50th percentile in reading assessments. In 2011, she was named Director of the Ben Gamla Charter School in southern Florida and served as a Reading Interventionist providing support for children scoring low on the Florida Standards Assessment. From 2016 – 2018, she served as Head of School at The Gordon School of Beth David. She now serves at Temple Beth Am Day School as a Learning Specialist to support students needing accommodations.
Her professional career began as a fourth-grade teacher in Montgomery County Maryland. Upon moving to Miami, she became a Reading Specialist and worked at South Dade Hebrew Academy. There, she coordinated a number of reading initiatives that promote student learning and growth in reading comprehension. This included the use of a linguistic approach to accommodate students needing a different modality to facilitate their individual learning styles. Dr. Binder has served as an adjunct professor at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida, Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida, and Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Dr. Binder served as President of the Jewish Day Schools Association in Miami Dade County for over five years. She has presented at seminars on a variety of topics as well as published and written about Character Education in Schools and Female Bullying. She has also written and received several grant awards to support her work in these areas as well as computer technology training for teachers. Currently, she serves on the Board of Trustees at Union Institute & University, where she received her Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership.
