Lupe S. Sanchez is an Area Manager for Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County, Inc. for the past 23 years. Managing multiple preschool programs in Kern County with ages 0-5, and Migrant Head Start being the main program. Lupe worked as a Preschool site supervisor for 15 years as well as teacher for two years with the Migrant program. She completed a Fellowship with UCLA, bringing forth a School Readiness project and implementing it with Migrant preschool teachers. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a master’s degree in Education both from CSUB. Her Master Thesis is on “The Principles of Head Start Programs”. Lupe has been an adjunct Child Development instructor since 2017 with Union Institute & University College.

Lupe S. Sanchez was born into a migrant family; migrating and following the harvest of crops with her family all the way down from southern California up to North California, from the age of nine to twenty- one years old. Going to college was only in Lupe’s dreams, being constantly on the road, traveling from place to place in search of agriculture work, and never completing or graduating from school. At the age of twenty-one, Lupe settled in Wasco California, with no high school diploma, decided to enroll in a public college, and earned her Associate Degree in Child Development. This was only the beginning of her journey to be the first in her family of seven siblings’ graduating from a four-year college and being the role model for her younger siblings to follow her example. She was also the role model for her three children to continue a higher education and graduate from university. Lupe spends most of her time camping and taking care of her elderly father and enjoying life with her three adult children and three grandchildren.
