Certificate Online Teaching & Learning

Union’s Graduate Certificate in Online Teaching & Learning is designed for teachers and administrators who want to learn more about best practices for teaching online. Study theories of online teaching and learning, analyze the evidence behind recommended practices and apply this knowledge to your own practice of course design and online teaching. Half the curriculum will be designed by you to focus on aspects of online teaching related to your professional interests, such as subject matter, grade level, digital teaching tools, or leadership.

The COVID-19 pandemic underscores the need for high-quality online teaching and learning at all levels of education from pre-K through the doctoral level, as well as non-credit courses and workshops. Even after the pandemic draws to a close, the number of students interested in pursuing online education may well continue at higher than pre-pandemic levels. The need for well-trained online instructors and administrators of online educational programs will continue into the future. This certificate will give you the knowledge and skills to participate in this evolving field.

Admissions Requirements

Admission is open to applicants who hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or a recognized international institution of higher education. The admission decision is based upon the following: (1) a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the most recent complete degree, (2) official transcripts showing all degrees relied upon for admission, (3) completed online application and a personal statement explaining why the applicant seeks this certificate and what they hope to study (4) competence in written communication skills, (5) English proficiency (if applicable).

No GRE scores are required for admission.
