Dr. Peter Caccavari Named National Dean for Undergraduate Programs

CINCINNATI, OH – Union Institute & University named Dr. Peter Caccavari as the new National Dean for Undergraduate Programs effective August 1, 2014.

His responsibilities include providing institutional leadership for the delivery of undergraduate education and support to program chairs and regional deans in their mission to achieve academic excellence, student success, and implementation of strategic and tactical directives.

“My goals are to increase enrollment, retention, and the number of undergraduate program offerings. These goals will be accomplished by focusing on five areas: The continuation of Union’s tradition of innovation by growing academic program offerings, increasing our national footprint through online offerings, supporting the faculty in offering our adult learners an engaging learning experience, enhancing our current community partnerships and developing new ones, and further develop a culture of continuous improvement where student, faculty, and staff feedback is solicited, reviewed, and used to act to create a better learning and working experience,” said Dr. Caccavari.

Dr. Caccavari comes to Union Institute & University from the University of Phoenix-Cincinnati Campus, where he served as Director of Academic Affairs for 10 years. Prior to that position, Dr. Caccavari was employed with Keane Consulting in Cincinnati as a business analyst, project manager, and training coordinator. He also served as a business analyst with Great American Insurance. Dr. Caccavari was a lecturer at Xavier University in the Department of English and served as a tutor at Rutgers University Writing Center and as a teaching assistant at Rutgers University in the Department of English.

He earned his bachelor of arts in English from Xavier University and his Ph.D. and M.A. in English from Rutgers University. His dissertation was titled, “Reconstructions of Race and Culture in America: Violence and Knowledge in Works by Albion Tourgee, Charles Chesnutt, and Thomas Dixon, Jr.” He has presented at and written for a number of academic venues.
