May's Lunch N' Learn Mental Health awareness

Wednesday, May 31 | 12:00pm - 1:00pm

It's estimated that one in four American adults experiences an episode of mental illness every year. In fact, mental illnesses are some of the most common health conditions in the country and can affect persons of any age, race, religion, or socioeconomic status.

Please join us on Wednesday, May 31, for a panel discussion on mental health, celebrating the theme "More Than Enough." NAMI Southwest Ohio provides advocacy, education, support, and public awareness so all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. Talbert House helps empower children, adults, and families to live healthy, safe, and productive lives by focusing on prevention, assessment, treatment, and reintegration.

Panelists include Dr. Becky Morrissey, UIU Program Director of Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Julia Saldanha, Program Director, NAMI Southwest Ohio, and Rebecca Jones, Associate Director, Community Care at Talbert House.

Topics will include:

  • What is mental illness?
  • Why does mental health carry a stigma of fear and prejudice?
  • What does More Than Enough mean?
  • Resources for support.

Angenita Brown, Chief of Staff for Union Institute & University, will moderate the discussion.

Boxed lunch will be available if RSVP is received by 5pm - Tuesday, May 30.
