Heidi Helgren, J.D. serves as an Affiliated faculty member for Union Institute & University facilitating classes on leadership ethics, nonprofit leadership, business law and social/ethical issues in management.   She is a licensed attorney for the State of Michigan and a full-time professor at a community college championing courses in management, human resources, and paralegal studies.  Heidi has a B.A. in Public Administration and a Juris Doctorate degree from Wayne State University Law School.

Prior to teaching full-time, Professor Helgren worked as a nonprofit lawyer representing low-income clients.  Her passion for nonprofit work has not ended, and she currently sits on the boards of several nonprofit organizations including an area zoo and two human trafficking task forces doing work throughout the State of Michigan.
