Mary Amos M.Ed.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ball State University in Geography with specialization in Travel and Tourism. This led to a career in the airline industry, where I gained extensive experience in corporate training and development. I realized my passion for teaching and design as an Inflight Instructor. In this role, I had the opportunity to develop courses and documentation that met the needs of adult learners and government requirements. As a previous supervisor I have had the opportunity to lead a diverse team of individuals. This eventually led to being tasked with writing various technical manuals. I have extensive experience teaching face-to face, hybrid courses, online and as a technical writer.
Professional Experience: I have been an Instructional Technologist with the IT department of UI&U since July 2010. I earned my Master’s degree in Education from UI&U in December of 2012. In the IT department, I worked to ensure concise, detailed documentation is available to assist faculty, staff and students with technology. I also conduct all new hire orientation for faculty and staff, as well as, student orientation sessions during their residencies. In my role with the University in the Center for Teaching and Learning focuses on developing interactive online courses and faculty professional development, including the creation of an online faculty orientation course and a new student online orientation course. In June of 2014, I accepted the position of Senior Application Administrator. In this role, I coordinated and installed upgrades to the Learning Management System including testing for successful implementation. My current position is Senior Instructional Technologist for Online Learning.
