Susan C. Wajert will lead Mercy College of Ohio in Toledo

Did you know that Union alumna Susan C. Wajert (Ph.D. 1997) was recently named President of Mercy College of Ohio in Toledo? We have a history of our alumni becoming higher education leaders. She is the 24th Union Institute & University alum to earn the title of president of a college or university!

Dr. Wajert has dedicated herself to the transformation of lives and communities through her dedication to healthcare education. That commitment has now led her to the presidency at Mercy College of Ohio, a Catholic Health Partners institution with a focus on healthcare.

Brian Smith, Catholic Health Partners’ executive vice president for networks said, “Her experience and commitment to health education give her a valuable background on which to draw as we work together to make Mercy College a more integral part of Catholic Health Partners.”

Her previous position was health-sciences dean at Mount Saint Joseph University in Cincinnati; chancellor of Trinity College of Nursing and Health Sciences in Rock Island, Illinois; and associate academic dean for program development at Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio.

In addition to her Ph.D. from Union Institute & University, she holds a bachelor of science in nursing from Bowling Green State University and a master of business administration from the University of Toledo.
