Ph.D. Alumna receives 2015 Naomi Berber Memorial Award
Twyla Cummings, (Ph.D. 1992) has been recognized with the 2015 Naomi Berber Memorial Award for her exceptional record of accomplishments, contributions toward the development of the graphic communications industry, and for having furthered the interests of the industry.
Dr. Cummings is a senior associate dean in the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences and a professor and graduate executive board advisor in the School of Media Sciences at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
She was singled out for her outstanding record of mentoring at RIT, the many community organizations with which she is involved, her extensive list of studies, voluminous publications, and presentations focusing on women in the printing industry.
Her impressive list of board appointments includes the America East Advisory Board, the Newspaper Association of America, and the Research and Engineering Council of NAPL.
Further achievements include the RIT Isaac L. Jordan Diversity Award, the Rochester Women’s Network 15 Up and Coming Award, induction into the NAPL’s Walter E. Soderstrom Society, and participating extensively in the YWCA.
Dr. Cummings research interests are extensive and include integrated media/communication markets and applications, media industry structure and strategy, diversification of services in the graphic communication industry, media distribution, diversity, customer relationship marketing, future management trends, and women’s studies.
In addition to her Ph.D. in business management at Union Institute & University, she holds a bachelor of science in chemistry from Wright State University.
