Salute To Our Veterans – “I Promised My Mom I Would Finish College”

The United States Navy veteran is keeping that promise as a UI&U Bachelor of Science student with a major in Criminal Justice Management. Learn more about Mark and his goals in the Q&A below.
Q: What do you plan to do with your degree?
A: I plan on completing my degree, so I can continue my education in a Union master’s program. Completing my degree will help my chances at promotion in my career.
Q: What led you to this program?
A: Many of my coworkers attended Union and spoke highly of the accelerated program. I also promised my mother I would complete my schooling a long time ago in exchange for signing my enlistment papers for the service. It may have taken a while, but I am almost finished.
Q: Why did you choose Union for your studies?
A: Many of my coworkers attended Union and only had good things to say about the bachelor’s program.
Q: If you could give a piece of advice to your 20 something, what would it be?
A: Don’t worry about it. Shake it off and keep pushing forward. Everything is going to be all right….
Q: Who has influenced you the most in your life, and how have they influenced you?
A: Well the two biggest role models in my life were taken from me tragically, as I started my career in law enforcement. Both my father and uncle were killed in the line of duty within six months of each other. My biggest cheerleader since, has been my wife. She was the one who motivated me to go back to school. My two young toddlers and wife have been my inspiration.
