Summer Ph.D. Residency 2018 Starts July 1 – Dr. Karen Schuster Webb, New President of Union To Keynote
Ph.D. students from across the nation will join hands and minds at the Summer 2018 Ph.D. Residency starting on July 1. Residency offers the opportunity to expand and deepen students’ knowledge and the chance to strengthen bonds with fellow students.
The new president of Union Institute & University, Dr. Karen Schuster Webb, who takes the helm on July 1 will keynote the opening residency dinner. The focus of Dr. Webb’s speech will be how does Union Engage, Enlighten, and Empower in the 21st century?
Expansive residency sessions will cover the creative process, critical writing and thinking, policy analysis, research methods, ethics and social justice, capstone seminars, leadership, women’s and gender studies, and much more. Featured events include Dinner with the Provost, Culture Keepers Reception, Women and Power Hour, Women’s Public and Political Voice, Reclaiming Identity in the Work of African American Women Photographers, Creative Readings, and a trip to the Cincinnati Art Museum for new students. The week concludes with a celebration and community forum.
The Union Institute & University national doctoral program incorporates interdisciplinary study that explore ideas and practices in leadership, public policy, social change, ethics, creativity, innovation, design thinking, and beyond. Union’s Graduate Certificates provide a distinguished addition to the Ph.D. focus. Each certificate includes 12 credits of courses integrated into the major in the areas of Creative Writing, Design Thinking, Educational Leadership, Executive Leadership, Martin Luther King, Jr. Studies and Social Change, and Women’s & Gender Studies.
