Union Institute & University’s Third Annual Poetry Reading will feature Robin MacArthur, John Rose, and F.D. Reeve. This free, public event will be hosted at the University’s Brattleboro, Vermont academic center on March 16, 2013.
Robin MacArthur is an affiliated professor at Union Institute & University. A mother, writer and educator, MacArthur represents half of the indie-folk duo Red Heart the Ticker. Her essays and short fiction have been featured in Orion Magazine, Shenandoah: The Washington and Lee University Review and on NPR.
John Rose’s work has appeared in numerous journals, including Old Crow, Jack Mackerel Magazine, and Today’s Poets. According to Factsheet Five, Rose’s epic poem “Woad” is “…excellent, Oz-like, written in a psychedelic style with a syntax all its own.” Described by James Tate as “a powerful and original poet,” Rose has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize twice.
F. D. (Frank) Reeve has published ten volumes of poetry, seven books of fiction, twelve books of translations, three books of literary criticism, four libretti, and countless uncollected essays, articles, stories, poems, reviews, and translations in journals including The Atlantic, The New Yorker, and The Sewanee Review. Reeve has won numerous awards and honors including the 2012 Award of the New England Book Festival for his novella, Nathaniel Purple.
