Professor Hibbert named one of “Miami’s Top Black Educators for 2014”

In the Union Institute & University tradition of excellence in teaching, Lawrence Hibbert has been recognized as one of “Miami’s Top Black Educators for 2014” by Legacy Miami Magazine.

Professor Lawrence Hibbert, coordinator of the criminal justice program at the Florida Academic Center, is a role model for educators.

“Lawrence is highly respected among students and faculty. He is dedicated to the criminal justice program and works tirelessly to give students the best academic experience possible,” said Dr. David George, dean of Union’s Florida Academic Center.

The recognition is humbling to Professor Hibbert. “I have worked hard over the years to help students.  It is gratifying to be recognized.”

An awards reception is scheduled for November 20, hosted by Legacy Magazine, a news/business publication serving South Florida’s Black professional community.

Union Institute & University’s bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Management has the distinction of being one of four Union programs ranked among the Top 100 Minority Degree Producers of institutions that confer the most degrees to minority students.

An accelerated program that allows transfer credits from police officer training, Union’s criminal justice management degree focuses on modern law enforcement that requires a broad academic experience, including social policy, decision-making, and reform. Students learn from experienced criminal justice professionals and are prepared for advancement to supervisory, management, and executive positions. Designed by criminal justice experts, the criminal justice management degree program is well-suited for law enforcement personnel who want to see theory applied to real world experience. As a management degree, the program focuses on organizational management responses to policies, programs, personnel, and technology.
